The University of Melbourne Indigenous Data Network headed by Distinguished Professor Marcia Langton leads the Improving the Indigenous Research Capability Project as part of the ARDC HASS +IRC Program and Sandpit in the Sandstone is a nested Partnership Activity from UQ HASS. The UoM and UQ colleagues share a strategic and collaborative commitment to the collections of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultural significance held in universities such as theirs. Sandpit in the Sandstone is focused on the UQ collections for this scoping phase July, 2022 to June, 2023 with the goals of uncovering ways research data commons can improve access to collections by those invested in proper Indigenous Research. Several phases of activity within the Collections Culture at UQ will be undertaken, and the involvement of colleagues at the QUT Faculty of Creative Industries, Education, and Social Justice is also being scoped.
